Itamar Vieira Júnior is the big winner of the Oceanos Prize with the debut novel "Torto Arado".

"Itamar Vieira Junior was born in Salvador da Bahia in 1979. He is a geographer and doctor in Ethnic and African Studies, with research on the formation of quilombola communities in the interior of the Brazilian Northeast. He published the collection of short stories A Oração do Carrasco (2017), finalist of the Jabuti Literature Prize ".

The author had already been awarded this year in Brazil with the Jabuti Prize for Literature, and was awarded the LeYa Prize in 2018.

The Oceanos-Portuguese Literature Prize is considered one of the most important literary prizes among Portuguese-speaking countries, alongside the Jabuti Prize or the Camões Prize.
