Convento de Cristo

Covering the Templar castle and the Convent of the Order of Christ - whose construction took place between the 12th and 17th centuries - this monument, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, integrates some of the most expressive testimonies in the history of Portuguese architecture, such as the church's Romanesque Bier, the cloister of D. João III, and the famous Manueline window of the Chapter Room. The large building complex, with its seven cloisters and numerous monastic outbuildings, also adjoins the old perimeter - the Sete Montes Wood - a space of great natural and landscape value.
