The Sé do Porto still conserves traces of the primitive Romanesque building built between the 1st half of the 12th century and beginning of the 13th century. The church-fortress aspect with a façade flanked by two towers and the beautiful rose window on the main façade stands out. It underwent changes in the Mannerist and Baroque periods. The Gothic cloister is from the time of King João I, the king who celebrated his marriage in this cathedral.
