Built during the transition of the 2nd to the 3rd the century by the Roman senator Caius Calpurnius Rufinus, this sanctuary was dedicated to the Infernal deities headed by Serapis and the deities of the Lapiteas, an indigenous ethnic group of the region. In the 3 temples, built on imposing granite outcrops, initiation rituals took place, with the procession culminating in the incubator ceremony - the ritual death, burial and symbolic resurrection of the initiates.
