The Museu dos Biscainhos is an exemplary representative of Baroque civil architecture and was, for about four centuries, the home of a noble family from the ancient province of Entre-Douro e Minho. The building was founded in the first half of the 17th century, with relevant extensions and enhancements in the 18th and 19th centuries. Within the Baroque program, the building is complemented by magnificent gardens, a significant historical, artistic and environmental heritage from the 18th century. The property and the gardens as a whole have been classified as of Public interest since 1949.
