Located in the center of Lisbon, in the historic area of Chiado, the National Museum of Contemporary Art - Museu do Chiado has been installed, since 1911, in the space of the century-old convent of São Francisco da Cidade.
The Museum's collection and permanent exhibition spans the history of art in Portugal, from 1850 to the present, constituting itself as the most important national art collection and an essential museum center on contemporary Portuguese creation.
The Museum also promotes temporary exhibitions that focus on retrospectives by artists or prominent movements at national but also international levels, namely works by artists such as Paula Rego, Helena Almeida, Julião Sarmento, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Ângela Ferreira, among others.
