Covering the Templar castle and the Convento de Cristo - whose construction took place between the 12th and 17th centuries - the monument, inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list, includes some of the most expressive testimonies in the history of Portuguese architecture, such as the church's Romanesque Bier, the cloister of D. João III and the famous Manueline window of the Chapter Room. The large buildings complex, with its seven cloisters and numerous monastic outbuildings, adjoins also the old fence - Mata dos Sete Montes - a space of great natural and landscape value.
